How to Choose a Toilet Seat Bidet

If you’re tired of spending hundreds of dollars on toilet paper, a toilet seat bidet attachment is a great choice!  They help save the world’s trees and are more hygienic and fresh than just using toilet paper.  While they haven’t yet caught on in the United States, bidets are popular all over the world as a cost-saving and hygienic solution.

  1. Look at your toilet and figure out whether it’s a one-piece or two-piece toilet.  The majority of bidets are built for two-piece toilets which have a detachable basin, but there are one-piece bidets out there, though they’re harder to find.
  2. Measure your toilet to find out whether it’s a round or elongated model.  Most toilet seat bidet attachments are made to fit one or the other, so it’s important to know before you buy your bidet.
  3. Decide between a one-nozzle or two-nozzle bidet.  The two-nozzle bidet is especially handy for feminine hygiene since it has its own separate nozzle for that as well as the standard nozzle for rear cleansing.
  4. Choose what features are important to you.  Bidets have an amazing variety of features, from built-in deodorizers to remote controls, warm air dryers and even automatically opening and closing hydraulic seats!
  5. Pick a well-respected bidet manufacturer.  There are many different bidet makers out there and some of the most popular brands include Coco Bidet, Bio Bidet, Toto and Brondell.
  6. Contact an electrician if you don’t have a GFI outlet within 40 inches from the back of the toilet.  Some bidets don’t require electricity and this step can be skipped.

Now that you’ve picked your bidet you’re ready to enjoy a lifetime of cleanliness while reducing your dependence on wasteful toilet paper.  While bidets can be expensive (they run anywhere from $30 to $3,000), they make up for it in savings on toilet paper.  Enjoy!

What about electricity use? Do the electric bidet seats keep using power all the time to keep the seat warm, etc.? Any electrical specs that say anything about this? I’ve seen a lot of gadgets that don’t really turn completely off when you turn them off, and they can use a lot of power in a year.
